14th December 2021 WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS AND LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR VISIT Roots Red Sea was awarded its Covid Secure Certification back in October 2020 and we have been maintaining the strict requirements of the certification since that time. Now touristic flights to Egypt are slowly resuming we are now welcoming guests through the doors once more and looking forward to being able to offer our full range of services to you. All guests that arrive can expect to enjoy the normal hospitality and service that Roots is renown for. The Covid safety measures are all in place and have been rigorously observed ensuring any risk is minimised. The procedures call for the guests to maintain social distancing at all times, wear masks in confined areas [which are very limited at Roots], and utilise the sanitisers and protective equipment provided in all areas. In addition to the guest arrangements all the staff have been vaccinated, are wearing masks and gloves, and are maintaining social distancing between themselves and the guests. The staff do not leave the premises to minimise any risk of the virus being brought on to the site from an outside source. Roots is a bubble in the middle of the desert. This time the opening of Roots is permanent and we will remain open ongoing. Our first guests arrived on the 10th and have been enjoying the normal hospitality and service as they have been accustom to in their previous visits. The Covid safety measures are all in place and have been rigorously observed ensuring any risk is minimised. The procedures call for the guests to maintain social distancing at all times, wear masks in confined areas [which are very limited at Roots], and utilise the sanitisers and protective equipment provided in all areas. In addition the staff are wearing masks and gloves whenever in public areas and maintain social distancing between themselves and the guests. The staff do not leave the premises to minimise any risk of the virus being brought on to the site from an outside source. Roots is in a bubble, in the middle of the desert. Roots is opening for only a short autumn season from the 10th October 2020 to 15th December 2020 and we are limited to only 10 Deluxe Chalets being available during this season again to minimise any risk by pressurising communal areas. 5th September 2020 We are all working very hard to bring Roots out of a seven month slumber to be ready to receive our wonderful guests again. Behind the scenes we have obtained our new license and now await inspection from the government team to certify we are meeting all the Covid Safety required measures. Once this is completed we will be opening the doors of Roots Red Sea, our target is the 21st September 2020. We will be opening on a reduced capacity basis as required by the safety measures and will be offering 10 rooms only. We will also operate with reduced staffing as directed by the measures. Clearly operating at this level is not cost effective and we do not expect to be able to return to full service anytime soon but we miss the Roots community so much that we feel we have to open regardless. What has not and will not change is we can still guarantee you same exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere that we are renown for. Pack your bags and come on over the water is great! 20th August 2020 Egypt has opened the airports and some hotels over the past weeks but the irregular nature of the flights and varying government advice as to quarantine and safety of travel, visitors have not returned as yet. We have not opened as yet and currently do not have the required Covid certification from the Ministry of Tourism to do so, we are working towards this currently. We have opened the diving operations with Pharaoh Dive Club so are welcoming divers to El Quseir. For anyone wishing to come to dive before we open Roots Red Sea accommodation, we have made special arrangements with other local hotels that are operating safely with Covid certification. We will handle the booking and payment directly with the hotel, and we will collect you each day for diving. Please contact us with any enquiries. info@rootsredsea.com

30th June 2020 Egypt is moving forward with releasing lock down in the beach resort areas. • Curfew has been lifted. • Airport are open and there are some flights to and from Hurghada, Egypt. • Several hotels have opened with strict Covid 19 security measures. • Coffee shops are open. • Beaches are open. • Theatres and movie house are open. • Social distance still applies. • Facemask requirements still apply. We have also been given access to a list of airlines that will be opening flights back to Egypt, the list is below. Egypt Air also continue with services via Cairo. Providing the country does not suffer any surge in cases with the release, we will be opening for diving only in August and Roots Red Sea will aim to resume at the beginning of September. If you have any queries or would like to ask about bookings please contact us at info@rootsredsea.com 12th June 2020 You may have seen on social media and other postings that Egypt is relaxing its lock down and is open to flights to the resort areas, this would appear to be good news but in fact nothing has changed and will not for the foreseeable future. Roots remains in lock down complying with the government guidelines. In order for any hotels or resorts to open their doors there are pages of regulations to be complied with and whilst the objective is the safety of the staff and guests they would make staying at hotel more like prison experience then a holiday. That being the case it is not in either our or our guests interest to open the doors, we will wait for the lockdown and 8pm curfew to be relaxed along with clear scientific evidence that it is safe for our guests and staff to travel to us. We will not encourage anyone put themselves at risk by tempting them to visit until it is safe. Our current expectation is flights will become available towards the end of August as such we are planning to open at the beginning of September but it is subject to the corona virus situation at that time. We are taking bookings from the 1st September with this proviso. 11th May 2020 Roots Red Sea is currently locked down and awaiting the global pandemic to release its grip on world travel, we suspect this could be an extended period. The Egyptian government are releasing some of the lock down measures for the resident market on the 15th May 2020. Internal flights will resume plus resorts and hotels are able to reopen in a limited manner subject to very strict restrictions. Having considered the potential health risks to our staff and guests, Roots Red Sea will NOT reopen at this stage. We have been very lucky in that El Quseir has not seen an outbreak of the virus and all our staff are in good health, however, as the restrictions on travel are lifting, the risk of transfer of the virus from infected areas is heightened. This movement of people around the country will be putting our staff and any guests at an increased danger which are not willing to risk. Our hope is that the crisis will have eased sufficiently by September 2020 and we will be able to reopen our doors to guests then. This is a provisional target subject to the current world status at that time. If in the meantime things improve quicker than expected we will review opening earlier.
